The Sherpas of Mount Everest
“Without assistance from these local people, the history of conquering Mount Everest would only be a white paper”, a journalist wrote about Sherpa people when he came to Everest in 2006. Some of the nicknames that people have used to describe the Sherpa people who directed us on our travels were snow tigers, mountain lions, and snow panther.
The famous “Super Sherpa”- Apa Sherpa, 51, climbing leader of Eco Everest Expedition 2011 reached the summit of Mt. Everest for the 21st time – a new world record.
The film “Sherpas – the True Heroes of Mount Everest” from YouTube shows how the Sherpas risk their own life to save the one of their Western client, and how they are affected by his death.

According himalman.wordpress.com, Alan Arnette has taken a survey of the list prices for all the top guide services on Everest this year, and put them down in an easy to read chart. Prices range from the “low-end” of an estimated $26,000 from Asian Trekking all the way up to $65,000 from several of the bigger companies such as Adventure Consultants and Mountain Madness. Those prices don’t include the fact that you’ll need to have roughly two months of free time to devote to climbing the mountain either.
